Peppermint bark trial 2

I made some of this stuff earlier in the month to give away with some xmas goodies. With more family coming in for Christmas, I thought I'd make another batch because it was such a hit. How can one resist dark chocolate, white chocolate, and mint?

Cooling/solidifying on the table

Well I learned some important things during batch 2.
1) Never buy Nestle brand morsel things, even if they're the only thing left in the store. Go to another one. They are complete crap. The "white chocolate" could have been replaced with "really cheap almond bark with a ton of crappy sugar added." Thank God I had half a bag of Ghirardelli and half a bag of Hershey "white chocolate" left over from some other recipe.
2) Using a hammer will pulverize candy cane into dust. No matter how soft you tap it, it just shatters into dust. Last time I made it I used a rubber mallet and that gave me a good distribution of large pieces and the dust.

Yum.

Too many knits

This happens every year around this time for me. Oh yes, the dreaded month of November for all of us late crafters. Months ago we all promised hand-made goods for friends and family, and maybe for a week or so diligently worked on these pieces, but then they all went in the WIP pile with thoughts of "eh I'll just finish it up next week."

You think I would learn by now.

So far I have a baby sweater to make the sleeves for, an awful striping pattern which has turned me away from striping for awhile (oh God the loose yarn ends), a dog sweater that I just started, and a cardigan for my grandma that I don't even have the yarn for yet (or even a pattern for that matter).

Ugh, it's going to be a long month.

And I still haven't even finished the sweater for myself yet. I guess that's going to have to wait and become the Christmas vacation time knitting project. Boo.

This guy was hanging outside our giant window.

I thought it'd be a good chance to test out my lacking photography skills. I really need to save up for an external flash and a better zoom, hah.

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back

So here I am, venturing back into the blogging world. I had a brief stint in blogging, one which I'll entitle "The musings of an angry teenager" aka the Livejournal account. I don't know what will be different about this one honestly, except that I am no longer the angry teenage with current mood "meh," I am now a 24 year old college graduate with a degree in geology who has learned not to hate the world, rather learn to live with it. Or just give in to the man, whichever you prefer to call it.

(We all get to that point by the way, don't act like you haven't.)

I guess I need a focus with this blog and not make it the musings of a disillusioned twentysomething. I plan on throwing down some geology, depending on where my life is, or where the news is, blah blah blah, and some crafting. I guess that makes me a cliche nerd girl blogger, but who cares. At least I'll have some rock stuff with this, heh.

Either way, welcome back blogosphere. I don't know if I've missed you yet.
